Tommy's Naked Soda

This is shot two at a clear root beer and this one fared no better than its predecessor. According to the label this drink is "New England's Own!", "All Natural!" and "Righteous Root Beer". Well, New England can have it back, if this is natural I'll take artificial and it *barely* qualifies as root beer. Imagine half-flat, sickly-sweet cream soda. Now stir in a teaspoon of minty toothpaste and you just about have it.

Their hackneyed cartoon moose really pisses me off too.

Dr. Brown's

In the hierarchy of root beer containers, metal cans come right before plastic bottles and right after glass ones, but don't let that turn you off Dr. Brown's 'cause it's quite good. Excellent fizz and a distinct spiciness set this one apart.

Waialua

My love of all things Hawaiian is well known, so I was excited to get my hands on this little number. It's actually made in Hawaii (in Waialua, Oahu, to be exact) and contains Hawaiian cane sugar AND vanilla. It has a light amber colour and a fruity flavour that was pleasantly unusual. The hula girl is a nice touch, too.
